How to volunteer
Volunteering is a fantastic way to contribute to your local community's well being and develop meaningful relationships with young people who have a disability and their families. It's also a great way to gain extraordinary life experiences and skills.
Volunteers can be people from all walks of life, young, older, couples or singles, with or with out children... anyone over 18 years would be considered. Younger volunteers may be suitable for particular programs.
All prospective volunteers undertake an assessment and orientation with Interchange staff, which includes:
- Interviews
- Police Checks
- Reference Checks
- Host Families are registered with Licensed with Families SA
Volunteers do not require any previous experience in caring for a child or young person who has a disability. Ongoing support and training is provided. Volunteers are covered by insurance while they are participating in Interchange programs.
Opportunities for volunteering are very flexible in order to fit in with the time you can share, ranging from a few hours a fortnight to a weekend a month.
